about

Tone Poet Vol 4

…and so Rat asked if he could stay at mine for a few weeks. ‘Of course’ said I. Rat is good company and I always enjoy rattling on with him. He was in the Hi-Desert to record an album at the famous Rancho De La Luna in Joshua Tree which became ‘Your Desert My Mind’ by The Mutants.

Rat had a few weeks off so we decided to start our own album with desert legend Sean Wheeler (who sung on ‘All In The Name’ on Tone Poet Vol 3), with him singing and writing to our rough backing tracks.

Recorded in my RubberCheese Studios, I got to work on making sense of what we ended up with and sent some ideas to Rat and Sean. They didn’t really know what to make of it and moved onto other things. I carried on regardless adding guitars, words, tunes and eventually came to the conclusion it shall be Tone Poet Vol 4.

The bonus track, ‘Death’s a Dirty Dancer’ is the only mix I completed for the original album idea, which I thought would go under the name The Magnificent by Le Magnifique or vice versa.
